Recruiting Professionals Talk: Highlights, Lowlights, News, Tips

Highlights, Lowlights, and News of the Recruiting Professional.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?  Discussing now
  1. How do Recruiters communicate better with Jobseekers the mystery of what we do? Craig Fisher inspired this with a great video. How do you manage Recruiter/Jobseeker Roles and Responsibilitieshttp://lnkd.in/pcDzG9   Join the discussion at LinkedIn Recruiting Professionals.
  2. Who Am I? The Role of Human Capital in the Global Workplace  Karen Mattonen, founder of HireCentrix raised this discussion. We recognize that my role has changed. We recognize that we are no longer just a representative of an item on the balance sheet. So if we are now a vital part of the organization and in fact are now corporate assets, however not owned by you what does this mean for your organization? ... http://lnkd.in/QqmQMY
HIGHLIGHTS:
  • 4 TRAITS THAT SEPERATE A GREAT RECRUITER FROM A GOOD ONE: from Kevin Wheeler for ERE.  Great at Networking because of strong interest in people. Marketing and Influencing skills. Leveraging and branding talent uniquely.  They use technology without being consumed by it.  Hmm interesting article, nice summary.  Being from technology I personally feel there is much more we should be doing to help people by demanding more of technology and not wasting so much time just "using it quietly... however the article is good and the processes for improvement do appear to be getting more attention as per the NEXT new blip.
  • SIX SIGMA, AN ULTIMATE PROCESS IMPROVEMENT CYCLE FOR REVOLUTIONIZING HR PROCESSES IS GAINING INTEREST: from HR Strategist, Daniel T. Bloom.  What new market opportunities could Human Resources meet better and more efficiently by applying statistical evidence and proven measures to define measure and improve HR Processes?  The questions and methods have worked for years, and now the approach is getting more than academic interest as an enabler to HR processes.
  • RECRUITER COLD CALLING IS NOT DEAD, its EVOLVED:  There will alway be a practical value in making new clients and talking to strangers, but how cold they are with the benefit of social media really comes into play.  Most agreed that business development is necessary by any means but how "cold" the calling is, and how practical it is was subjective.  Its good to reach out to reach new business or passive candidates, and its an art worth doing well. But "cold" calling or "do not call" messaging and screened influencers, requires something perhaps warmer than cold. Interesting discussion you can follow it here http://lnkd.in/rJUpBM

LOWLIGHTS:
  • ITS HARD TO EXCHANGE JOBS/CANDIDATE INFORMATION:  Apparently systems just do not support the reality of partnering for jobs and candidate sharing across and between systems as no one has shared any secrets or discovered a more efficient systemic or procedural way for efficiently cross posting jobs than copy and pasting manually between many systems. (Archive Discussion Question from Peter at GoBig4.com)
    • FROM ATS Technology we would love to see partnership enablers or plugins that we make it easier to share the "flow" of jobs and talent (resumes).
    • Systemically would love to learn which Applicant tracking systems accept a FEED IN from RSS and then all jobs we created to a given feed could be shared in or out as flagged appropriately..
    • Presently some look to virtual administrators or recruiter trainees or outsource data entry in or out of the various systems, so recruiters are focused then on recruiting, rather than data entry.
